Getting started
What is Sonik Pocket?
A free pocket-money app for families with children aged 5 to 12. Guardians set missions, such as making the bed or reading for twenty minutes. Children complete them to earn rewards, then choose whether to spend, save or put the money towards a goal.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Sonik Pocket is free to use. The money you add to your wallet is yours to give: it pays for mission rewards and for anything you buy in the Store.
Do I have to add money?
No. A mission can be rewarded in SP Points instead of pocket money, and SP Points cost you nothing. Your child swaps them for rewards that you set, such as choosing the film tonight. Every family can use Sonik Pocket, with or without money.
What age is it for?
Sonik Pocket is made for children aged 5 to 12.
Where can I get the app?
Use the store buttons on our home page. Sonik Pocket is for families in the UK.
Is there one app or two?
One. When you open Sonik Pocket you choose whether you are a guardian or a child, and the app shows the right side.
Missions and rewards
What is a mission?
A job with a deadline and a reward. You choose all three. A mission can happen once or repeat.
What can the reward be?
Pocket money, SP Points, or something from the Sonik Pocket Store.
What happens when my child finishes a mission?
They mark it as done and it comes to you for review. When you approve, the reward is released and your child unlocks it in their app. If the job was not done, you can say so, and your child can ask to try again.
Can my child ask for a mission?
Yes. A child can send you a request for a mission, and you decide whether to set it.
What are SP Points?
Sonik Pocket Points. Children earn them for missions and for right answers to Launch checks, and swap them for rewards that you set, such as choosing the film tonight.
Money
Where does the pocket money come from?
From your own wallet in the app. You add money to it, and a mission’s reward is set aside when you create the mission and released when you approve it.
Can I give my child money without a mission?
No. In Sonik Pocket, pocket money reaches a child only as the reward for a mission.
What are the Spend, Save and Goals wallets?
Spend is for buying things in the Store. Save is money put aside. Goals holds what your child is saving towards something particular, with up to five goals at a time. Your child can move money between them whenever they like.
The Store
What can children buy?
Anything in the Sonik Pocket Store, which is made for children. They pay from their Spend wallet, or a goal buys its item once it is fully saved for.
Do I have to approve what my child buys?
No. It is their money and their choice. Every purchase shows in the app for the Master Guardian. If it is a surprise gift for you, you hear that one is coming, not what it is.
What is a Launch check?
One quick money question before your child pays from their Spend wallet, such as how much will be left afterwards. A right answer earns 25 SP. Any answer still lets the order go through.
How much is delivery?
Nothing extra. Delivery is included in every price, and orders go to an address you have added.
What if something is wrong with an order?
Email us at [email protected] with the order number and we will help.
Family and safety
Who can be a guardian?
The person who sets up the family is the Master Guardian. They can invite a Co-Guardian to share the everyday, and Trusted Guardians, such as grandparents. You choose what each Trusted Guardian can do, and every guardian gives from their own wallet.
How does my child sign in?
With a PIN that you set.
My child has forgotten their PIN. What now?
Children cannot change their own PIN. The Master Guardian or Co-Guardian can set a new one in the app.
How do you look after our information?
Our Privacy Policy sets out what we collect and why. You can also delete your account in the app.
